'MOZART To METALLICA' Ballet Poster Raising Eyebrows
February 8, 2007North Dakota's KFYR-TV reports that the upcoming ballet "Mozart to Metallica" will showcase several choreographers using dancers from the Northern Plains Ballet, but the poster to promote the show is raising some eyebrows.
The dancers conducted an open rehearsal this afternoon for the public to see what the upcoming ballet is all about, and executive director Becky Bowen says there are businesses in town that won't use the poster to promote the event because the image is too risque. Bowen says the ballerina and motorcycle simply reflect the distinct styles of art in North Dakota.
"To show really the diversity of art in our own state. We have people that are really inspired by the classical, which is represented by the ballerina in the red tutu and then we have people that really get down to heavy metal like METALLICA," says Bowen.
"Mozart to Metallica" will be at the Belle Mehus February 17-18. The ballet combines the classical with the contemporary, something for everyone to enjoy.
